Ensemble WARMI is a groundbreaking collective that amplifies the voices of women composers and performers in Latin America, celebrating their creativity and preserving their cultural legacy for future generations.
Established in 2021, it is driven by the exploration of diverse aesthetics and the quest for varied musical languages emerging from the sonic creations of avant-garde women composers of the 20th and 21st centuries in Latin America.
The inclusion of diverse viewpoints on female musical creativity is central to Ensemble WARMI’s mission. Its founder and conductor, Andrea Perez Mukdsi, is committed to giving visibility to music composed and performed by women. Selected and commissioned works focus on:
-
Highlighting innovative academic perspectives in the classical tradition.
-
Incorporating ancestral traditions, such as the "canto con caja" from the Northwest region of Argentina.
-
Showcasing the Río de la Plata’s tango heritage.
This initiative receives the support of the Women, Gender, and Diversity Secretariat and the Ministry of Education of Salta Province, which enhances the ensemble's outreach and impact.
Ensemble WARMI is part of the The Latin American Women Composer Project, which explores the diverse aesthetic richness and infinite creativity of Latin American women musicians through concerts, talks, and conferences in Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, and the U.S.

Ensemble WARMI is a microcosm of Latin American reality and effort. Diversity and inclusion are our guiding principles and the essence of our identity. Our members have various ethnic backgrounds, including Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities. Our musicians come from different regions of Argentina, and some of them belong to the LGBTQ community. Furthermore, we recognize that diasporas are a fundamental aspect of the region. Therefore, our ensemble also includes musicians from Venezuela, Ukraine, and France.
